I don’t know how this rule is supposed to work Rowdy, but I paused it and didn’t look like the ball had completely crossed the line when he handballed it. However it appeared that the Port player spoilt the handpass.
And shouldn’t it be Magpies not Power?

SANFL-exclusive rule sparks major controversy, gifts Port goal in elimination final

The CEO said they changed the format when “the results started coming in”. In other words they realised they messed up grading. It’s not some woke agenda.

That local footy 'every team plays finals' drama is an absolute farce - but not for the reason everyone thinks

I think you should consider it like a “plate” trophy in a tournament. I am sure those involved would.

Yes they should have done a better job with grading, or even regraded part way through the season into proper separate divisions. There are already 4 divisions, so 3 other teams who are not as good as the div 1 teams are going to win a Premiership anyway, so I think your “teams who are worse” comment loses a bit of steam.

100% . There was nothing wrong in principle with what they did, but poorly executed an indefensible to stick with weeknight games. A shame other media go with the sensational headlines and move on, rather than get to the bottom of it, unlike The Roar.

So almost identical and Don’s claim that Fyfe’s career disposal efficiency is in the 70%s is false. Who woukd have thought?!!!

And just to keep you honest in fairness to Don (not that he deserves it), I checked it here https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=9&pid1=3333&fid1=C&playerStatus2=A&tid2=15&pid2=3316&fid2=S&type=A
Hmm look at that, Fyfe more clangers.

Wings take flight, 'flat out error' on Dusty, veterans snubbed: Winners and losers from the 2023 AFL All-Australian team

Assuming a team can’t pick a venue like KP, Marvel, Ballarat, etc, then this seems a bit of a nonsense reward if you ask me. So Collingwood could pick which day to play. Big deal.

What's the best way to reward the AFL's minor premier? Give them the power to choose

Huh? “Advantage” means over the opposition. They don’t have an advantage over Melbourne.

1 out 5 who voted agree with you.
Houli missed a couple of goals that he shouldn’t have. That’s what let him down.

Just like his Norm Smith’s were the mistake of the 5 people voting. Voting on these matters should really be carried out by people on The Roar.

Twice!

We can’t trust Don’s stats though. He has been caught frequently with made up figures.

I think coaches have enough to do already, well 8 of them.

The AFL does have a members area at Marvel so the facilities comment is valid. Obviously MCC doesn’t, but it is still a reason.
Character to me can mean many things, but any stadium the looks the same in any direction lacks character to me. It has the same level of character as a school gymnasium.

Interesting question.
I think it more about the AFL scheduling the big clubs and games in H&A on Friday nights which means MCG. Saints, Dogs and Roos play at Marvel and then tend to get Saturday. Plus as the months get colder the AFL seems to favour the indoor stadium, including a few Friday nights. At least that is my gut feel, without checking the fixture.

That was when there was 4 games in Vic that weekend though. I have also heard it suggested that they were punishing Freo for resting all those players the week before too. Didn’t help.

I don’t think they’ve played too many games with the roof open at all.
I am not sure of the AFL has said much, but clubs have complained when the roof is open. The grounds runs roughly north-south and players complain about the sun in their eyes. The shadows are quite bad for TV too.

Isn’t that for the Premiership winner?

What’s good for the goose (Chris Scott) is good for the gander.

Here are some reasons. The first is the biggest, the rest are in a random order. Many are trivial, but there us no rule against that.
– The view on Level 1 (if you are on any sort of angle) is just not as good as the MCG, maybe due to it being narrower.
– Too crowded in walkways after the game.
– Most people leave to the Southern Cross side creating a massive bottleneck outside, particularly with the station is so close.
– Bars and facilities not as good for AFL and MCC members.
– The siren doesn’t sound right.
– You don’t know which TV screen to look at for a replay and the new “sexy” screens are 50% advertising.
– Coaches have to walk through the crowd to get on and off the ground, stopping people moving around Level 1.
– They use Ticketmaster which is actually worse than Ticketek.
– They built it in the wrong direction meaning the roof has to be closed.
– Footy should be played outdoors.
– There aren’t enough gates. (Gates 1, 2 and 3 have been merged making it worse.)
– It has no character.
– I have seen Richmond lose too many times there, particularly against St Kilda. Go GWS.
They should bulldoze it and put up some wind turbines.

Dogs and Roos are lower. MCG woukd get more neutrals (AFL and MCC members in particular) than Marvel too.

I would have predicted 60k but the timeslot is average.

Good. Marvel is an abomination.

I kind of lost interest in the footy last week so I really didn’t pay too much attention.
So how are your mob going to go Macca? I thought had a sneaky chance, but today has made me wonder.

Rowdy, I have discovered that when you click a notification of a reply or like and it only takes you to the top of the comments, if you then change the “sort by” you are taken to the right comment.
