It was on open palmed push; not a punch… Cotchin embellished the contact. If the two players were the same size it might be just a fine.
AFL NEWS: AFL apologises for 'cowardly' Buddy Tribunal dig, mid-season draftee prepares for Blues debut
A huge number of people suffer from mental health – more so post covid. Plenty of those come from lower socio-economic, violent or broken homes with little to no real support from family or friends. They’ll likely never experience the level of support, adulation and fellowship bestowed on a footballer and they certainly don’t have a footballers bank balance and assets. If they do seek help via a medicare subsidised mental health plan… the out of pocket costs are substantial. Particularly if they mental health is preventing them from holding a steady job. Yet… they have to figure life out on their own and if they make a poor choice and go the crime route… nobody cares… so… Riewoldt should put the violin away…
AFL NEWS: Riewoldt's plea after Fisher drug charge, Docker faces 'serious misconduct' ban, Dangerfield out
I agree. A development league made up of say 8 teams of the best 18/19 year olds… they essentially serve a 2 year footy apprenticeship; so too, the next generation of coaches. They receive a wage and attend life skills classes to prepare for a pro career. Broadcast the comp – it’d easily pull in viewers and sponsors; and give clubs with top picks are better chance of not picking a spud.
AFL NEWS: Riewoldt's plea after Fisher drug charge, Docker faces 'serious misconduct' ban, Dangerfield out
I’m guessing JHF has the choice between going home to be the NBT in SA footy or play for the club her supported as a kid: the dockers – who will be cherry ripe by the team he walks out of north next year…
Dusty to Sydney, Tex to Port - How a mid-season trade period could spice up the AFL and 12 moves we'd love to see
Not sure if it has improved or if it impacts other states but at the MCG half the food outlets and bars are closed… I lined up for all of the half time break and got nowhere near a beer… and dodgy ump calls are hard to swallow with a dry whistle.
AFL NEWS: 'You're losing the fans'- Action demanded after 'whistle-fest', reports of mass ejection in Dreamtime chaos
Can’t see a full-time team in the NT…
On the Gold Coast, a player’s salary can land a house on the water, with a deck and a boat. Brisbane and Noosa are close, so too lush rainforests and mountains. Plus, great weather for an athlete and plenty of good looking potential romantic options. Yet – they struggle to retain players and attract big name recruits. What hope does a Darwin based team have?
And while the sentiment of a team comprised of locally born and bred talent is a feel good story and a boon for the community… what are the potential problems and distractions for young men when they’re surrounded by mates and a community that don’t carry the expectations and standards of professional athletes?
Canberra is the most logical option for the 20th AFL team
They’re relying on wins against out of form teams… they could easily lose all their remaining games…
'Who can do the best Bradbury?' Six mediocre teams fighting out two finals spots
If Buckley isn’t fit to lead Collingwood, why would he be a consideration for Hawthorn?
I’ve read this idea about half a dozen times on here recently… makes no sense to me – what am I missing?
Hawks in ruins, a victim of hubris
Dusty: 11 goals, 45 votes, 3 norms – 3 GF’s
VS
Fyfe: O goals, 1 vote, 0 norms – 1 GF ( 2 kicks out the full 1st qtr, another behind in the 2nd)
Why do forwards and defenders bother turning up for award nights?
Should be four medals…
Brownlow (for mids)
Coleman
Best forward medal
Best defender medal
Coleman doesn’t count as the medal for best forward… the likes of Breust, Walters, Cameron, Betts all had incredible years at times; never a chance of winning Coleman or Brownlow… deserve their own category.
Why do forwards and defenders bother turning up for award nights?
Because, as he stated earlier – he’s only 24. This generation are easily “triggered”.
Sliding Doors: Monday, July 30, 1990
…then why did the club have a logo that featured one word: POWER!

Port should keep the black and white prison bars AND change their name to the RAVENS!!
Upset two clubs!! Turn up the clash with the crows to eleven while making Ed cry… Bravo!
There is a clear solution to the Port-Collingwood prison bar row
Boy, I hope that Hawthorn doesn’t follow Port’s lead… but, but… our heritage: “We’re the Mayblooms!”
We get it Port. Power is a ridiculous, intangible moniker… but that’s what you signed up for. You can’t just revert back to what you were in the SA league… Collingwood are the magpies in the AFL. You could drop out of the AFL and join the SANFL…. Tassie could take your AFL licence… I’m sure they’d be happy to wear teal.
There is a clear solution to the Port-Collingwood prison bar row
If, Tony Jones, Eddie McGuire, David Koch… were collectively a rock star…
It be, Elvis… the 1977 version
I wish they’d leave the building…
"Absolute pack of smart-alecs": Port savaged for post-match prison bars "cheap stunt"
… it’s been suggested before; Port should simply incorporate some teal into the prison bar guernsey… it honours past and present and keeps Collingwood (Ed) quiet.
These guys get paid far too much for solutions readily available in roar comments… 😛
Did Eddie McGuire reveal a little too much in tense 'prison bars' argument with Kane Cornes?
I think the league should be filling the public holiday/prime time slots with games likely to provide a contest. Of all the games this week – North Dogs was probably the least appealing. David King said North deserved the slot as an opportunity to make some money… I think this is a load of bollocks. General footy fans deserve better. Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Queens Birthday, all great opportunities for the league to treat general fans and showcase the game to casual/non-fans. Lots of people would be hosting bbq’s/meeting at the pub etc and inviting mates that usually couldn’t care less about the game – a lot like S.O.O and Rugby League.
The ‘tradition’ argument doesn’t hold up for me either and I’m a Hawks fan that has been spoilt with a decade of Easter Monday nail biters. Once these games look like becoming one-sided give the slot to somebody else. How boring has the Round 1 Tigers Blues games been? That game should be a GF replay. What better way to open the season?
Noble urges calm at struggling Kangaroos
The Caleb Serong’s win the awards but the Izak Rankine’s have the better highlight reels…
The AFL needs Lance Franklin
… probably should have kicked his publicist – if he had one.
The AFL needs Lance Franklin
You can argue a lot things using the “right metrics”….
I’ve seen a few on here have a go with:
Such and Such averaged more disposals than Cyril Rioli…. therefore, Such and Such was a was the better of the two…
The AFL needs Lance Franklin
It’s no secret the 80s and early 90s was an era when most full forwards kicked bags every week and it wasn’t simply a case of superior accuracy. They had a lot more chances, far more space and generally played man on man. No clusters, third man up, switch of play… see ball, get ball, kick it to leading FF…
In 1992 Dunstall kicked 17.5 against Richmond in round 8, 12.8 against Essendon in round 20, and 12.6 against Richmond again in round 22. That’s just Dunstall. Ablett had 14 goal games in 93 and 94. Plugga – 12, 15, 16 goal games in 91, 92 and 95…
They were strong and great kicks…
Buddy, however, is a rare, athletic specimen who would of killed it back then… he’d beat his opponent on the lead; if he dropped the mark, he’d crumb and run his man ragged.
The AFL needs Lance Franklin
If Buddy played in the same era as Plugga and Dunstall he probably would of kicked the same amount of goals… even though they have a better set shot %…
The AFL needs Lance Franklin
Unlikely. Maginess will surely tag Bont…
He’s limited Daicos and J.Kelly to 5 and 7 disposals…
Footy Fix: If you're not terrified about your team facing the Hawks yet... you should be
